Ingredients for loaded mac and cheese
For the Meat
- 1 lb smoked sausage or pulled pork
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp Hearth Heroes BBQ Seasoning
For the Mac
- 16 oz elbow macaroni
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup smoked gouda
- 1 tsp Hearth Heroes BBQ Seasoning (Any flavor)
Toppings
- Crispy bacon crumbles
- Jalapeño slices
- Green onions
- BBQ sauce drizzle
- Extra Hearth Heroes seasoning
Instructions
- Cook macaroni until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sear sausage or pulled pork with Hearth Heroes BBQ Seasoning until caramelized. Remove and set aside.
- Melt butter in the same skillet. Whisk in flour for 1 minute. Slowly add milk while whisking.
- Stir in cheeses until smooth and creamy. Add BBQ seasoning.
- Fold in macaroni and meat.
- Top with bacon, jalapeños, green onions, and a light BBQ drizzle.
- Bake at 400°F for 10–15 minutes or serve straight from the skillet.
